Home and Clinic Consultations:

We offer a private consultation in the comfort of your own home or at one of our own clinics, at a time to suit you.
Our aim during a consultation is to give you the opportunity to explore and discuss what’s been happening for you and your baby. We can then work together to address practical issues and help you to set realistic expectations of your baby and yourself. We will answer any questions you have throughout our time together. Our goal is to leave you feeling more confident and better able to navigate your way through the jungle of conflicting information, which so many new parents find themselves lost in. We will leave you with a plan and strategies for a way forward, so that you can better achieve your breastfeeding and mothering goals.

Consultations usually last 90 minutes. This allows time to find out what’s been happening for your new family, talk about what you’d like to achieve and work on this together. At the end of the appointment we will agree a feeding plan for moving forward.

Subsequent Consultations, if required, offer an opportunity to review how the feeding plan has been working for you both, and to discuss any further options that you would like to explore or additional questions that you might have. These can be arranged directly with your Lactation Consultant.

£165

per 90 minute consultation

£40

per half hour additional time

Any additional equipment items required will be charged at cost

The consultation with [my lactation consultant] has been invaluable. Her knowledge and professionalism is second to none but also her warm and approachable manner and reassurance has given me my confidence back to carry on breastfeeding my baby. The in depth session offered solutions to multi-layered issues connected with feeding my baby and [my lactation consultant] has tirelessly unpicked each issue offering guidance and reassurance. The follow-up notes offered further support and summary of the session which was particularly helpful for a busy mum like me! Couldn’t recommend enough! Thank you!

[My lactation consultant] visited me when my baby was 4 weeks old. I had been struggling with bottle feeding since my baby was born. He took in gulps of air and it took us nearly an hour to feed. [My lactation consultant] was very sympathetic of my situation and suggested some new feeding techniques which worked fantastically. She also picked up that my son had a tongue tie. Not only had this been missed in hospital but I had also had a private specialist review him at 2 weeks old who also dismissed that anything was wrong. Since sorting the tie my son has completely changed. He takes feeds quickly and without gulping air. I would recommend [London Lactation Consultants] to anyone who is struggling and please trust your instinct and seek help when things don’t seem right.

I just had my second baby and remembered [London Lactation Consultants] helped me with my first one. Somehow this time it was harder than the first time but I wouldn’t have made it without [my lactation consultant]. She was always super helpful always answered my questions and went above and beyond to help me overcome tongue tie and a bad case of mastitis. I will be forever grateful for all her help. She saw me during bank holidays, answered my questions on the weekends and had many resources available. I felt supported, taken care of and how she genuinely cared and wanted to help. Thank you so so so much.

I was two months in to my breastfeeding journey and in a deep dark place when my son and I had our first session here.

[My Lactation Consultant] is incredible. She really made me feel heard with the challenges we were having, she didn’t fence sit, would give an opinion and a strategy, but never pressured or pushed us in trying any particular thing. Her follow up care was brilliant, I couldn’t recommend her highly enough. We’re five months in and breastfeeding is somehow comfortable – which I never thought would be possible for us. We had help from so many people along the way, but in my mind it’s all down to [my Lactation Consultants]. A breastfeeding hero!

[My lactation consultant] came to support me with 2 home visits when my second baby was under 3 weeks old. She was extremely supportive and knowledgeable, and quickly diagnosed tongue tie. She helped us with the laid back feeding position which we have been using successfully since. When I first met [my lactation consultant] I was almost ready to quit breastfeeding due to pain, but with her suggestions and support I am still going. I’d recommend [London Lactation Consultants] to anyone – thanks so much!!

Telephone and videocall consultations

Our long experience of supporting families remotely via telephone/Zoom/FaceTime etc became particularly valuable during the Covid pandemic, enabling us to provide much needed and valued breastfeeding support, both locally and abroad.

We offer 30-minute consultations at £50 which we request in advance. Each further 15 minutes is charged at £25 and this is paid after the call.

For some situations 30 minutes is enough time but for more complex situations – particularly where we need to see your baby feeding – more time may be appropriate. We automatically check at 25 minutes if you wish to continue and can either summarise at that point or agree more time.

Facetime, WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom – we can usually use whatever works best for you.

£50

for up to 30 minutes

£25.00

per 15 minutes, or part thereof

We request that an initial payment of £50 is made
prior to the consultation.

I had a series of digital consultations with [my lactation consultant] in the days and weeks after my daughter’s birth (my home was outside of the home visit catchment area). My daughter and I had an incredibly rocky start; I had heard breastfeeding was “hard” but totally underestimated the challenge. I planned and truly wanted to breastfeed but after just a few days of trying I felt so overwhelmed by the difficulty that I stopped. Without [my lactation consultant’s] expertise, guidance and encouragement (she was a therapist too at times) I would never have established breastfeeding. My daughter is now three months old, I am exclusively breastfeeding and plan to continue for many months. I remain so grateful.

I came home from hospital with covid and painful feeding, [my lactation consultant] was the first to respond with a suggestion of a video consultation which I’ll admit at first, I wasn’t sure how that would work, but I had Covid so took it!
From the first video call, I instantly saw the value to be had even from video consultation, the reassuring and knowledgable tone from [my lactation consultant] was way beyond my expectations.
Since then, I’ve gone from dreading every single feed, crying into my curled up toes and wishing I didn’t mind just swapping to formula (I felt no pressure from anyone on continuing to breastfeed, other than myself) to breast feeding cross legged on the floor at baby sensory…!
The hospital missed my daughter’s 50% tongue tie which [my lactation consultant] identified and we were referred to a specialist who we had the best possible experience with (which is not easy to say).
I asked my husband for any feedback, ‘highest possible regard… amazing’.
We cannot thank you enough.

I had my first child two weeks early, just as I finished work and before I had a chance to get into first time parent mode and get at least a clue of what was to come, particularly in respect of breastfeeding. Our son had to have a fairly heavy handed instrument delivery and a tongue tie, which we got snipped fairly early. It would be an understatement to say how challenging I found breastfeeding, and how much of a “deer in headlights” I felt, just completely overwhelmed and so stressed with the idea I was struggling to feed my new Bub. My husband contacted London Lactation Consultants and [our consultant] was able to come as soon as we needed. It would be another understatement to say what a lifeline she was for us, me in particular at that time. Firstly, from the moment we connected with her, she was in regular contact, checking on us and preparing us for her visit and she was prepared to make herself available if we felt we really needed her. The techniques for feeding that she gave us were so helpful and worked for us, and although it still took a little while for things to run smoothly, I persisted with the tips [our consultant] gave and now breastfeeding is genuinely easy, my son almost independently latches. I would have never believed this was possible at the start. However above all, [our consultant] was so incredibly kind and compassionate to us, not only about the breastfeeding but the whole newborn experience. She really listened and reassured me what I was going through was normal and valid. This was without a doubt one of the best decisions we ever made to connect with London Lactation Consultants and we are looking to use them when we start weaning.

We had a private zoom session and it was absolutely fantastic. Even though we are doing group classes, it was entirely invaluable to have our own queries and questions addressed and [my lactation consultant] was amazingly knowledgeable. We would not hesitate to recommend and feel confident and armed to approach our breastfeeding journey successfully. Should we come across any issues after baby is born, we also have established a wonderful and comfortable relationship with [our lactation consultant] already. Which has aided settling my anxieties on many levels. Highly recommend!!!!

[My Lactation Consultant] was amazing to work with and helped us reach the very happy and comfortable place in breastfeeding we are now! She is responsive, insightful and always encouraging — which made all the difference when I was having a tough time. She also proactively checked in on me which was a nice touch and much appreciated. Ultimately she helped me overcome mastitis, latch and positioning issues, as well as my son’s tongue tie. We met with her antenatally via video call as well as postnatal home visits and in the clinic — and she always did what she could to see me as soon as possible when I wanted to make an appointment. Communication via text was super convenient as well. Thank you so much! We are so happy that I can continue to breastfeed and I look forward to doing so for many many months to come!

We met during our antenatal classes and had the most informative session on breastfeeding. When we started our breast feeding journey, we constantly referred to the notes we took and used so many of her recommended positions – it was so helpful. We contacted her again when our baby was 16 weeks as we had been told by the GP he had tongue tie. By this point, we were pretty desperate, tired and worried. We had a video call to begin with and gave us some tips to help us before we saw her in person with both breast and bottle feeding, as we do one bottle a day. She was hugely supportive and caring and gave us the confidence to keep going before we saw her. We saw her just before we had the tongue tie procedure to talk through what would happen and to put our minds at ease. Our baby absolutely loved her which made it an even better experience! We had one more appointment after the procedure and again, she was absolutely amazing. So attentive to us and our baby. She has been so quick to respond on email, followed up when she didn’t have to and kept in touch afterwards. I will be recommending her to all of my friends who would like feeding support in the future and I wouldn’t hesitate to get in touch again for some further assistance. It was the best decision we made getting back in touch with her and as a result we have a much happier baby when he’s feeding and a much more confident mummy too!

Your support, advice and the comfort you
offered our family…was invaluable. You helped me figure out how to do what was
best for my baby and what was best for me. I felt so supported by you in the
process and so grateful that you helped us find success with breastfeeding. I
cannot thank you enough for that.

Just to say a massive thank you for today – it was lovely to meet you and get all your good advice. It was such a relief to be heard and listened too in such a calm and professional manner, as many women as possible should be aware of your services. I’ll definitely recommend your services to a couple of friends who are due soon too.

Tongue Tie information:

Our IBCLCs can support families who suspect their baby is tongue-tied by performing an oral assessment and referring to local tongue tie clinic pathways. We do not offer the tongue tie division procedure.

In most cases, your IBCLC can help with strategies to improve feeding effectiveness and comfort; and support your milk supply. These are important alongside any treatment for tongue-tie.

NICE Guidance is that skilled breastfeeding management is an integral part of any treatment for tongue-tie https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ipg149/chapter/2-The-procedure

[My Lactation Consultant] has been fantastic- her tailored advice and support has enabled me to continue breastfeeding despite multiple issues including a posterior tongue tie, low milk supply, breast/nipple pain and insufficient baby weight gain. I found [my Lactation Consultant] to be very well informed, caring, considerate and kept my baby calm and happy when doing the in-person consult. She identified that we were keen to take an evidence based approach and provided relevant reading material as well as detailed advice in the consultations and in follow up emails and texts. Her recommendations for a tongue surgeon and cranial osteopath were also great. My baby is now 4.5 months old and I’m hopeful that working with her has meant I can successfully breastfeed for as long as I want to.

[My Lactation Consultant] was so helpful when I experienced pain and damage when trying to establish breastfeeding. We had a number of video call consultations and then a home visit at which she diagnosed tongue tie after an examination of my baby. I am so thankful to [my Lactation Consultant] as she supported me to persevere and I am now pain free and loving breastfeeding my baby!

We worked with [my Lactation Consultant] at their clinic after my friend recommended her services. To say we were desperate for some support and practical guidance was an understatement. She ensured we left the clinic with a clear, manageable and pragmatic short term plan and support to have our daughter’s tongue tie dealt with successfully. Following on from this initial appointment [my Lactation Consultant] helped me understand how to best support our daughter as she learnt how to breast feed successfully after her frenectomy.

This might sound dramatic but I can genuinely say that we were close to giving up on breast feeding altogether before. I feel so privileged to have had access to such fantastic support so that we could continue breastfeeding. Our daughter is now 5 months old and we are loving every minute of pain-free breast feeding! I cannot recommend London Lactation Consultants enough – they changed our breast feeding journey for the better and I cannot thank them enough.

[My Lactation Consultant] gave me the confidence to read my baby and trust my instincts. She also identified that our baby might have a tongue tie and recommended a specialist. Since working with [my Lactation Consultant] our baby has gone from the 3rd percentile to the 10th percentile of weight in just 3 weeks. Not to mention we have managed to exclusively breast feed, when I was about to turn to formula. I would recommend her to all my friends.

I now enjoy a pain free breastfeeding experience with my daughter and I would not have got to this point without the help of my lactation consultant. I saw her at home and in-clinic, and she helped everything get back on track with advice regarding positioning, pumping, tongue tie assessment and the recommendation for Cranial Osteopathy. [My Lactation Consultant] was quick to respond and always there when I needed additional help and advice.
