Telephone and videocall consultations

We are highly experienced and trained in remote consultations through telephone and online media.

We offer 30-minute consultations at £40 which we request in advance. Each further 15 minutes is charged at £20 and this is paid after the call.

For some situations 30 minutes is enough time but for more complex situations – particularly where we need to see your baby feeding – more time may be appropriate. We automatically check at 25 minutes if you wish to continue and can either summarise at that point or agree more time.

Facetime, WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom – we can usually use whatever works best for you.

£40

for up to 30 minutes

£20.00

per 15 minutes thereafter

We request that an initial payment of £40 is made
prior to the consultation.

My video consult with [my Lactation Consultant] was so SO helpful. I really appreciated her calm and thoughtful assessment of the nursing strike I was experiencing with my son. She provided really clear advice and reassurance and I’m pleased to report we are back on track with breast feeding! Frankly I was also pleasantly surprised at how effective our virtual interaction was, I honestly just wish I’d been in touch sooner.
Thank you!

I am able to breastfeed my baby thanks entirely to the guidance and help we were given by [my Lactation Consultant]. I cannot for a second imagine I’d still be breastfeeding if it weren’t for her help. We had terrible problems with an extremely painful latch and were about to give up. Over several Zoom calls, [my consultant] patiently and compassionately guided my baby and me through various techniques and positions. I couldn’t believe how effective it was over video but amazingly she could assess everything remotely (especially amazing in the current world) and we went from thinking it would never work to exclusively breastfeeding. It’s worth noting that the notes [my consultant] sends after each call are comprehensive and extremely helpful! My baby is now nearly 5 months and I plan to breastfeed as long as I can.

Fantastic sessions with [My Lactation Consultant]. She spotted our son’s tongue tie when the hospital had missed it and put us in touch with an excellent consultant who helped resolve the issue. She also provided very helpful lactation advice in a caring and thoughtful way. Would highly recommend.

[My Lactation Consultant] was amazing to work with and helped us reach the very happy and comfortable place in breastfeeding we are now! She is responsive, insightful and always encouraging — which made all the difference when I was having a tough time. She also proactively checked in on me which was a nice touch and much appreciated. Ultimately she helped me overcome mastitis, latch and positioning issues, as well as my son’s tongue tie. We met with her via video call, home visits and in the clinic — and she always did what she could to see me as soon as possible when I wanted to make an appointment. Communication via text was super convenient as well. Thank you so much! We are so happy that I can continue to breastfeed and I look forward to doing so for many many months to come!

Home Visits:

Following current Government and Public Health England guidance, we are now able to offer home visits for urgent cases. In order to minimise person-to-person contact and therefore risk of exposure to Covid-19, we are carrying out consultations virtually as much as possible. If it subsequently emerges that a visit is essential, we are permitted to follow up with a home visit, in appropriate PPE. This may of course not be possible for areas where distance/transport is problematic.

We offer a private visit in the comfort of your own home, at a time to suit you.

Our aim during a visit is to give you the opportunity to explore and discuss what’s been happening for you and your baby.  We can then work together to address practical issues and help you to set realistic expectations of your baby and yourself. We will answer any questions you have throughout our time together.  Our goal is to leave you feeling more confident and better able to navigate your way through the jungle of conflicting information, which so many new parents find themselves lost in. We will leave you with a plan and strategies for a way forward, so that you can better achieve your breastfeeding and mothering goals.

Initial visits usually last 90 minutes.  This allows time to find out what’s been happening for your new family, talk about what you’d like to achieve and work on this together.  At the end of the visit we will agree a feeding plan for moving forward.

Subsequent visits offer an opportunity to review how the feeding plan has been working for you both, and to discuss any further options that you would like to explore or additional questions that you might have.  These can be arranged directly with your Lactation Consultant.

£150

initial visit for first 90 minutes

£120

follow up visits for first 60 minutes

additional time is charged at £35 per half hour

The fee includes all travelling time and expenses.
Any additional equipment items required will be charged at cost

[My Lactation Consultant] gave me the confidence to read my baby and trust my instincts. She also identified that our baby might have a tongue tie and recommended a specialist. Since working with [my Lactation Consultant] our baby has gone from the 3rd percentile to the 10th percentile of weight in just 3 weeks. Not to mention we have managed to exclusively breast feed, when I was about to turn to formula. I would recommend her to all my friends.

I now enjoy a pain free breastfeeding experience with my daughter and I would not have got to this point without the help of my lactation consultant. She helped everything get back on track with advice regarding positioning, pumping, tongue tie assessment and the recommendation for Cranial Osteopathy. [My Lactation Consultant] was quick to respond and always there when I needed additional help and advice.

[My Lactation Consultant’s] approach was gentle and not pressuring whilst also encouraging and she kept me going. We always stopped when my baby cried so that he could gather his confidence gently as he got stronger. I had a very fast let down which choked my baby and made him scared of feeding. I worked with [my Lactation Consultant] over a few weeks where I bottle fed as well as breastfed until my baby was big enough at 14 weeks to not choke so badly from my fast flow. I started with night feeding lying down because it meant that my baby was side lying and therefore could spit out any milk that was going too fast.

The home visit was very useful and I was grateful to have this appointment given the covid restrictions. [My Lactation Consultant] was careful to take all necessary precautions. It was very useful to get advice on positioning the baby during breastfeeding, but also more general advice about supplements to help increase milk supply etc. I would definitely recommend to other mothers who are finding breastfeeding challenging.

We met [My Lactation Consultant] during our antenatal classes and had the most informative session on breastfeeding. When we started our breast feeding journey, we constantly referred to the notes we took and used so many of her recommended positions – it was so helpful.
We contacted her again when our baby was 16 weeks as we had been told by the GP he had tongue tie. By this point, we were pretty desperate, tired and worried. We had a video call to begin with and [my Lactation Consultant] gave us some tips to help us before we saw her in person with both breast and bottle feeding, as we do one bottle a day. She was hugely supportive and caring and gave us the confidence to keep going before we saw her.
We saw her just before we had the tongue tie procedure to talk through what would happen and to put our minds at ease. Our baby absolutely loved her which made it an even better experience!
We had one more appointment after the procedure and again, she was absolutely amazing. So attentive to us and our baby. She has been so quick to respond on email, followed up when she didn’t have to and kept in touch afterwards.
I will be recommending her to all of my friends who would like feeding support in the future and I wouldn’t hesitate to get in touch again for some further assistance.
It was the best decision we made getting back in touch with her and as a result we have a much happier baby when he’s feeding and a much more confident mummy too!

Just to say a massive thank you for today – it was lovely to meet you and get all your good advice. It was such a relief to be heard and listened too in such a calm and professional manner, as many women as possible should be aware of your services. I’ll definitely recommend your services to a couple of friends who are due soon too.

We are getting on so much better now with breastfeeding and I no longer have any discomfort… In fact, I am really enjoying the ease and flexibility of it! I’m so grateful for all your help and advice – it was much harder than I had imagined getting started and I think I needed the encouragement to keep going, so thank you.

Tongue Tie information:

Our IBCLCs can support families who suspect their baby is tongue-tied by performing an oral assessment and referring to local tongue tie clinic pathways. We do not offer the tongue tie division procedure.

In most cases, your IBCLC can help with strategies to improve feeding effectiveness and comfort; and support your milk supply. These are important alongside any treatment for tongue-tie.

NICE Guidance is that skilled breastfeeding management is an integral part of any treatment for tongue-tie https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ipg149/chapter/2-The-procedure

LLC were recommended by a friend that was very impressed with them. So were we. [My Lactation Consultant] was very prompt in contacting me (on a Sunday). We needed advice on tongue tie and our baby vomiting significant amounts. [My Lactation Consultant] assessed a very fast flow (coupled with tongue tie) and gave strategies to reduce the flow which solved the problem. She was excellent, gentle, straightforward and clever- we’re so happy we called! Kate
