Telephone and videocall consultations

We are highly experienced and trained in remote consultations through telephone and online media.

We offer 30-minute consultations at £40 which we request in advance. Each further 15 minutes is charged at £20 and this is paid after the call.

For some situations 30 minutes is enough time but for more complex situations – particularly where we need to see your baby feeding – more time may be appropriate. We automatically check at 25 minutes if you wish to continue and can either summarise at that point or agree more time.

Facetime, WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom – we can usually use whatever works best for you.

£40

for up to 30 minutes

£20.00

per 15 minutes thereafter

We request that an initial payment of £40 is made
prior to the consultation.

I had my first child two weeks early, just as I finished work and before I had a chance to get into first time parent mode and get at least a clue of what was to come, particularly in respect of breastfeeding. Our son had to have a fairly heavy handed instrument delivery and a tongue tie, which we got snipped fairly early. It would be an understatement to say how challenging I found breastfeeding, and how much of a “deer in headlights” I felt, just completely overwhelmed and so stressed with the idea I was struggling to feed my new Bub. My husband contacted London Lactation Consultants and [our consultant] was able to come as soon as we needed. It would be another understatement to say what a lifeline she was for us, me in particular at that time. Firstly, from the moment we connected with her, she was in regular contact, checking on us and preparing us for her visit and she was prepared to make herself available if we felt we really needed her. The techniques for feeding that she gave us were so helpful and worked for us, and although it still took a little while for things to run smoothly, I persisted with the tips [our consultant] gave and now breastfeeding is genuinely easy, my son almost independently latches. I would have never believed this was possible at the start. However above all, [our consultant] was so incredibly kind and compassionate to us, not only about the breastfeeding but the whole newborn experience. She really listened and reassured me what I was going through was normal and valid. This was without a doubt one of the best decisions we ever made to connect with London Lactation Consultants and we are looking to use them when we start weaning.

We saw you on a video call during lockdown about our little boy who had his tongue tie released but was cross about having to work for milk from the breast and was super distracted (and still is!) I was in a bit of a state, with midwives beating the door down every other day to weigh our baby not really helping! I just so desperately wanted to be able to feed my boy. I don’t know how you did it but you sorted us out completely in that one video call. I felt so much warmth and support from you even through the phone, and you gave us such good practical advice and a direction to start working in when I had previously felt so lost. We were completely off bottles within a few weeks! There have been many many times when I’ve been breastfeeding in the night and I’ve whispered a silent ‘thank you’ to you for being able to have this precious experience of feeding my boy, it means so much to me. So, thank you so much for being there for us in those dark, confusing, lockdown days. [Baby] has just had his birthday and is a super happy, determined and funny little boy… and is still going strong on the boob!

[My Lactation Consultant] is incredibly knowledgeable, with a great capacity for listening and problem-solving. Each session with her brought clear answers to all of our questions while opening rich perspectives and giving us the needed confidence for continuing and improving breastfeeding. During our first video call, she masterfully lead us and our slightly agitated baby by giving brief, precise indications to my partner on how to position the camera and meticulous instructions to me on how to adjust my position and that of the baby. Without a doubt, my experience with London Lactation Consultants has been the most valuable professional resource through the whole of my pregnancy and early parenting.

[My Lactation Consultant] was so helpful when I experienced pain and damage when trying to establish breastfeeding. We had a number of video call consultations and then a home visit at which she diagnosed tongue tie after an examination of my baby. I am so thankful to [my Lactation Consultant] as she supported me to persevere and I am now pain free and loving breastfeeding my baby!

We worked with [my Lactation Consultant] at their clinic after my friend recommended her services. To say we were desperate for some support and practical guidance was an understatement. She ensured we left the clinic with a clear, manageable and pragmatic short term plan and support to have our daughter’s tongue tie dealt with successfully. Following on from this initial appointment [my Lactation Consultant] helped me understand how to best support our daughter as she learnt how to breast feed successfully after her frenectomy.

This might sound dramatic but I can genuinely say that we were close to giving up on breast feeding altogether before. I feel so privileged to have had access to such fantastic support so that we could continue breastfeeding. Our daughter is now 5 months old and we are loving every minute of pain-free breast feeding! I cannot recommend London Lactation Consultants enough – they changed our breast feeding journey for the better and I cannot thank them enough.

Home and Clinic Consultations:

Following current Government and Public Health England guidance, we are now able to offer home or clinic consultations for urgent cases. In order to minimise person-to-person contact and therefore risk of exposure to Covid-19, we are carrying out consultations virtually as much as possible. If it subsequently emerges that in-person support is essential, we are permitted to arrange this with appropriate PPE. This may of course not be possible for areas where distance/transport is problematic.

We offer a private consultation in the comfort of your own home or at one of our own clinics, at a time to suit you.
Our aim during a consultation is to give you the opportunity to explore and discuss what’s been happening for you and your baby. We can then work together to address practical issues and help you to set realistic expectations of your baby and yourself. We will answer any questions you have throughout our time together. Our goal is to leave you feeling more confident and better able to navigate your way through the jungle of conflicting information, which so many new parents find themselves lost in. We will leave you with a plan and strategies for a way forward, so that you can better achieve your breastfeeding and mothering goals.

Initial Consultations usually last 90 minutes. This allows time to find out what’s been happening for your new family, talk about what you’d like to achieve and work on this together. At the end of the appointment we will agree a feeding plan for moving forward.

Subsequent Consultations offer an opportunity to review how the feeding plan has been working for you both, and to discuss any further options that you would like to explore or additional questions that you might have. These can be arranged directly with your Lactation Consultant.

£150

initial consultation for first 90 minutes

£120

follow up consultations for first 60 minutes

additional time is charged at £35 per half hour

The fee includes travelling time and expenses or clinic costs as applicable.
Any additional equipment items required will be charged at cost

[My Lactation Consultant] has been fantastic- her tailored advice and support has enabled me to continue breastfeeding despite multiple issues including a posterior tongue tie, low milk supply, breast/nipple pain and insufficient baby weight gain. I found [my Lactation Consultant] to be very well informed, caring, considerate and kept my baby calm and happy when doing the in-person consult. She identified that we were keen to take an evidence based approach and provided relevant reading material as well as detailed advice in the consultations and in follow up emails and texts. Her recommendations for a tongue surgeon and cranial osteopath were also great. My baby is now 4.5 months old and I’m hopeful that working with her has meant I can successfully breastfeed for as long as I want to.

I contacted LLC at around 4am in the morning after a bad night of very sore, engorged and painful breasts – struggling with an over supply and a super fussy 6 week old baby who in turn was refusing to latch on. I was swiftly booked in for the very next day. As soon as I opened the door to [my Lactation Consultant] I was completely at ease – [she] is so friendly, approachable, kind, gentle and gives of a truly lovely aura. We went through all of my breastfeeding issues and she advised me on every single one – setting out a clear plan to help me overcome the struggles I was having. [My Lactation Consultant] advised & showed me new positions to latch my baby on which have worked a treat for us. [She] was also super gentle when handling my 6 week old baby and he was very happy and content in her presence. No question seemed to be too much trouble and [my Lactation Consultant] answered every single one of my many questions with confidence and gave me lots of information and followed these up with a detailed report and information links for me to read up further on.
[She] did not rush our consultation, she took her time when helping us and was extremely thorough.
I also found her to be extremely empowering in regards to my capability of looking after my new baby which is exactly what you need as a brand new, first time mum trying to navigate your way through these early weeks.
It’s been just over 24 hours since my consultation and already my over supply issue and my fussy baby have both significantly settled down. I really could not recommend the LLC highly enough to any mum that is looking for amazing breastfeeding support from a gentle and extremely knowledgeable hand.

[My Lactation Consultant] was absolutely brilliant. We’d had a tricky start with our new baby being poorly and going in and out of hospital. [My Lactation Consultant] did a wonderful job helping my partner find some real improvements with pain and discomfort in breastfeeding – as well as affirming her and giving confidence. But she also helped make a place where we could both work through and set down a lot of the stress and anxiety we were carrying from the preceding days. Made a huge difference and we’re really grateful to her for that.

[My Lactation Consultant] was amazing to work with and helped us reach the very happy and comfortable place in breastfeeding we are now! She is responsive, insightful and always encouraging — which made all the difference when I was having a tough time. She also proactively checked in on me which was a nice touch and much appreciated. Ultimately she helped me overcome mastitis, latch and positioning issues, as well as my son’s tongue tie. We met with her antenatally via video call as well as postnatal home visits and in the clinic — and she always did what she could to see me as soon as possible when I wanted to make an appointment. Communication via text was super convenient as well. Thank you so much! We are so happy that I can continue to breastfeed and I look forward to doing so for many many months to come!

We met during our antenatal classes and had the most informative session on breastfeeding. When we started our breast feeding journey, we constantly referred to the notes we took and used so many of her recommended positions – it was so helpful. We contacted her again when our baby was 16 weeks as we had been told by the GP he had tongue tie. By this point, we were pretty desperate, tired and worried. We had a video call to begin with and gave us some tips to help us before we saw her in person with both breast and bottle feeding, as we do one bottle a day. She was hugely supportive and caring and gave us the confidence to keep going before we saw her. We saw her just before we had the tongue tie procedure to talk through what would happen and to put our minds at ease. Our baby absolutely loved her which made it an even better experience! We had one more appointment after the procedure and again, she was absolutely amazing. So attentive to us and our baby. She has been so quick to respond on email, followed up when she didn’t have to and kept in touch afterwards. I will be recommending her to all of my friends who would like feeding support in the future and I wouldn’t hesitate to get in touch again for some further assistance. It was the best decision we made getting back in touch with her and as a result we have a much happier baby when he’s feeding and a much more confident mummy too!

Your support, advice and the comfort you
offered our family…was invaluable. You helped me figure out how to do what was
best for my baby and what was best for me. I felt so supported by you in the

Just to say a massive thank you for today – it was lovely to meet you and get all your good advice. It was such a relief to be heard and listened too in such a calm and professional manner, as many women as possible should be aware of your services. I’ll definitely recommend your services to a couple of friends who are due soon too.

We are getting on so much better now with breastfeeding and I no longer have any discomfort… In fact, I am really enjoying the ease and flexibility of it! I’m so grateful for all your help and advice – it was much harder than I had imagined getting started and I think I needed the encouragement to keep going, so thank you.

Tongue Tie information:

Our IBCLCs can support families who suspect their baby is tongue-tied by performing an oral assessment and referring to local tongue tie clinic pathways. We do not offer the tongue tie division procedure.

In most cases, your IBCLC can help with strategies to improve feeding effectiveness and comfort; and support your milk supply. These are important alongside any treatment for tongue-tie.

NICE Guidance is that skilled breastfeeding management is an integral part of any treatment for tongue-tie https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ipg149/chapter/2-The-procedure

[My Lactation Consultant] gave me the confidence to read my baby and trust my instincts. She also identified that our baby might have a tongue tie and recommended a specialist. Since working with [my Lactation Consultant] our baby has gone from the 3rd percentile to the 10th percentile of weight in just 3 weeks. Not to mention we have managed to exclusively breast feed, when I was about to turn to formula. I would recommend her to all my friends.

I now enjoy a pain free breastfeeding experience with my daughter and I would not have got to this point without the help of my lactation consultant. I saw her at home and in-clinic, and she helped everything get back on track with advice regarding positioning, pumping, tongue tie assessment and the recommendation for Cranial Osteopathy. [My Lactation Consultant] was quick to respond and always there when I needed additional help and advice.
